The Consumer Agency has the responisibility to enforce various legal act that provide for various enforcement measures in order to ensure that business operators abide to the legislation in force that protect consumers. The Agency can for instance use enforcement measures such as fines, recall of products from the market, order salesbans of dangerous products, decide sanctions in case of misleading advertisments or prohibit and santion the use of illeagal standard contract terms, etc. The decisions taken by the Agency are final and under some circumstances enforcable. However, according to the Acts which the Agency is entrusted enforcement of consumer legal rights it is stipulated that the bodies subject to its decisions can appeal their case to the Conumer Rights Appeal Committee. However the final decisions of the Consumer Agency are signed by the Director of the Agency and these decisions are subject to the general provisions of the General State Administration Act No 37/1993.
