Minister of commerce Mr. Björgvin G. Sigurðsson and Mr Zohua Bohua minister of trade – and industry, China, signed 8 June an agreement between the Ministry of Commerce, Iceland and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People’s Republic of China on the exchange of information in the field of consumer protection.

The Parties recognize  the importance of intensifying the exchange of information between the Parties in the field of consumer protection in order to promote safe and healthy consumption environment and enhance bilateral economic and trade relations.
The Parties intend to use the best efforts to exchange the information relating to new policies, laws, regulations of the respective countries in the field of consumer protection. Information will be exchanged on innovation of the mode and method of supervision in the field of consumer protection. Problems in domestic consumer complaints and cross border consumer disputes accepted or handled by the respective countries as well as changing tendency thereof will be processed in order to ensure safety and security of consumers.
