1. Mandatory registration and notification of e-cigarettes and refills containing nicotine
Producer (importer) of e-cigarettes and refillable containers with nicotine shall ensure and are responsible that all products that they produce and market in Iceland fulfill all requirements concerning safety and production. The producer (importer) is responsible that the product(s) have been correctly registered with the Consumer Agency.
In accordance with provision of Act No 87/2018, cf. Ministerial regulation No 803/2018, manufacturers, and importers if applicable, must submit notification to the Consumer Agency if they intend to place on the Icelandic market e-cigarettes or containers with nicotine.
Iceland is a Member State to the European Economic Area (EEA) and the Internal Market of the EU. EU rules and regulations for the internal market therefore apply in the same way as they apply to the EU Member States. The Consumer Agency may reject registration of product(s) if the applicable criteria is not fulfilled.
