Unregistered e-cigarettes illegal for marketing in Iceland after 1 March 2019

6.11.2018

All importers and manufacturers of e-cigarettes and nicotine containing liquids shall register products at the Consumer Agency. The registration process can be found here: “Six steps to legal marketing in Iceland”.

For registration, download the registration form available at the link above, fill it out and send it to the e-mail rafrettur@neytendastofa.is. Further instructions on the completion of the form are available under the “information” sheet of the form. The Consumer Agency determines the applicable submission fee to be paid by the producer or importer after evaluating the notification form. The Consumer Agency will send an e-mail to the registrant with information on the total amount of the submission fee in ISK plus bank costs together with bank account information.

When the transaction of the submission fee is completed, the registration will be processed. The Consumer Agency evaluates whether the information provided is sufficient or if more information is required. Please note that the submission fee is not refundable. Products that are legal for marketing in Iceland will be registered on a list published on the Agency’s website.

E-cigarettes that are placed on the market after 1 March 2019 and are not on the Agency’s list, are illegal on the market.
